Every year, December brings crowded streets permeated with holiday Spirit. However, 2020 was anything but typical. Yes, we still enjoyed the magic of the holidays, but things were different. COVID-19 kept us indoors and away from loved ones much more than usual. It also was the cause of economic hardship for thousands — children included. Organizations that help children in need like Toys for Tots were more vital this year than ever. Our McAllen branch saw an opportunity to help and hopped on board.
The owner of Fox Pest Control in McAllen, Jason Thompson, donated a generous amount to the cause. Branch Manager Josh Castelan and a few Fox team members then used the money to hand-pick toys for the children. Toys for Tots was in true need of help this year, so the team was glad to help.
Rather than sensationalizing service, Josh wants to normalize it.
“Giving shouldn’t be a one-time thing. Giving shouldn’t be something that’s applauded for being extraordinary,” he said. “Giving and kindness should be the ordinary.”
